A collaborative data management tool for chemical and biological therapeutics

Antima Gupta is an Application Scientist in the Customer Engagement team at Collaborative Drug Discovery based in the UK.
Before joining CDD, she worked as a Biological Scientist for a hit-to-lead drug discovery project and used CDD Vault at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine/Salvensis, UK. She received her PhD in Molecular Microbiology and further contributed in science through her research as a UNESCO-L'Oréal International Young Women Scientist. During her 10 years research career, she focused on multiple drug discovery projects related to neglected tropical diseases.
A standardized tool is very much in demand to manage the big dataset and share it with collaborators. In addition, there is a growing need to securely integrate public data with private data. Hence, here we present the cloud-based data management tool Collaborative Drug Discovery (CDD) Vault that provides a more collaborative hosted informatics technology for many commercial and drug discovery applications. The major components of effective scientific-community based research include:
- unifying goal or focus on common therapeutic areas/diseases
- multiple research areas/expertise
- uniform database platform for effective data accumulation and management
- easy access and sharing of information
- potential for unlimited growth
Essentially, new approaches that would allow scientists to do efficient research in order to handle registration of complex chemicals (stereochemistry, mixtures, synthetic conjugates) and biologicals (nucleotides, amino acids and complex drug-like biological entities i.e., Antibody drug conjugates, PROTAC, molecule Glue) as well as assay data around these entities, all can be covered using CDD Vault.
CDD Vault was built utilizing innovative web technologies in order to provide a platform that allows scientists to archive, mine, and securely share research data with an initial focus on infectious diseases of the developing world. Since the technology is “therapeutic area agnostic” it has general been proven equally applicable for commercial applications. Collaborative technology allows researchers to securely collaborate with technical experts around therapeutic or target areas thus advancing research facilitating the discovery of new drug candidates. It also allows scientists to speed up research by sharing unpublished data.
CDD Vault is an interactive platform for registering multiple biochemical data types (small molecules, natural products, amino acids, nucleotides, cell lines, reagents etc), importing large quantities of data and inventory around registered entities, easy linking to FAIR electronic lab notebook and tool to visualise huge volumes of data in an intuitive manner.
