PLA2023india: Live discussions about digitalisation of laboratory processes and business transformation strategies

The Paperless Lab Academy® Indian Chapter is all set for its 4th edition in October 2023 with a strong program aimed at setting the right stage for discussions on mastering data and planning the right strategy for business transformation.
Data, Processes, People, and Technologies
The PLA was launched 10 years ago with the singular aim of enabling companies to learn from others about their strategies for transformation, their key assets for successful projects, KPIs, full buy-in from their team members and lessons learned along the journey.
At the Paperless Lab Academy®, we aim to bring together industry leaders who share their vision of the future and challenge today’s all-too-accepted paradigms that do not allow most projects to reach their full potential.
The mission of the PLA is to ensure that data, process, people, and technology are part of the discussions and to help participants bring solid information to their team on the best ways to build scientific data and process strategies, electronic and digital lab environments and IT strategies.
The Laboratory 4.0 ultimate goal is Review by Exception
The program of this 4th edition, to be held at the Westin Hyderabad Mindspace on 10 and 11 October, has a central theme: Planning the Lab 4.0 – Foster the digital revolution of your data.
Much has been written about Industry 4.0, where labs 4.0, by extrapolation, should ensure that machines, devices, sensors, and people are connected, communicate with each other, and drive effective production. The principles of the fourth revolution are interconnection, transparency of the information, technical support, and decentralised decision-making.
Furthermore, a promising new level of complexity is attracting everyone’s attention: Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. However, those who have already experienced it claim that the quality of the data is crucial and that too much time is invested in cleaning the data before even starting the AI project. So how about making sure you have a good handle on the entire lifecycle of your data to gain much more immediate insights from it.
Let´s imagine the Lab 4.0
– Data is captured automatically, in a controlled manner and in compliance with data integrity requirements.
– Interconnectivity allows such transparency to managers that it enables them to collect immense amounts of data and information from all points along the data lifecycle.
– The systems assist managers on the data analysis, by aggregating and visualizing information comprehensively for making informed decisions.
If a lab is ever able to focus human attention only on “review by exception”, then Lab 4.0 is born.
For all companies seeking a strong competitive position in their respective markets, the deadline for completing their digital transformation projects is almost overdue. This means that they should already have agreed and defined a long-term IT strategy, set clear goals and KPIs for their business intelligence management, and have a clear understanding of the entire data lifecycle along their products.
However, it is never too late to get it right and it is better if you get it right first.
