PLA Events Code of Conduct

Paperless Lab Academy® events are made up of a community with a common agenda, cause, and interests, who collaborate by sharing ideas, information, and resources. It is of paramount importance to the Paperless Lab Academy® planning committee that each and every person attending our events ( conferences, webinars and trainings courses) has a positive and rewarding experience and to that end, Paperless Lab Academy® is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all event participants.
We value the participation of each member and want all attendees to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout all events hosted in the Paperless Lab Academy® space.
The Paperless Lab Academy® planning committee has established this Code of Conduct to provide guidelines to participants and to ensure that all participants understand what behaviour is expected, and what behaviour will not be tolerated.
All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, Paperless Lab Academy® staff/committee members, exhibitors/sponsors, and all others are expected to abide by this Virtual Event Code of Conduct.
Paperless Lab Academy® has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to sexual harassment by participants or our staff/committee at our meetings.
If you experience harassment or hear of any incidents of unacceptable behaviour, Paperless Lab Academy® asks that you inform the organisers or contact info@paperlesslabacademy.com so that we can take the inmediate appropriate action.
Paperless Lab Academy® is dedicated to providing a positive and harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, ethnicity, race, religion, nationality, or level of experience.
We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form, nor do we tolerate any behaviour that would reasonably lead to another event participant being made to feel unsafe, insecure, or frightened for their physical or emotional well-being.
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds.
Examples of encouraged behaviour that contributes to a positive environment include:
- Using welcoming and inclusive language
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Gracefully accepting constructive criticism
- Focusing on what is best for everyone at the event
- Showing empathy towards other participants
- Be kind to others
- Do not insult or put down other attendees.
- Behave professionally
- Remember that harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary jokes are not appropriate at this event
Unacceptable Behaviours are defined as:
- Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
- Verbal abuse of any attendee, speaker, exhibitor/sponsor, Paperless Lab Academy® staff or committee members, service provider, or another event guest.
- Examples of verbal abuse include but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, national origin, inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces or in presentations, or threatening or stalking any attendee, speaker, exhibitor/sponsor, Paperless Lab Academy® staff/committee members, service provider, or other meeting guests.
- Disruption of presentations during sessions or any virtual meetups or events throughout the virtual experience. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any Paperless Lab Academy® virtual event staff.
- Postings, and messages should not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services, unless these activities have been explicitly authorized by Paperless Lab Academy® staff/committee members. Paperless Lab Academy® reserves the right to remove such messages and potentially ban sources of those solicitations.
- Participants should not copy or take screenshots of Q&A or any chat room activity that takes place in the virtual space.
- Participants should not share any content such as recorded presentations outside the event. Those videos are subject to copyright property and its distribution are under the responsibility of the Paperless Lab Academy®
Paperless Lab Academy® reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the virtual meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behaviour, and Paperless Lab Academy® reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future meeting, virtually or in person.
A participant who believes he or she was falsely or unfairly accused of violating this Code of Conduct should notify Paperless Lab Academy® staff / committee members with a concise description of the grievance.
All grievances will be handled in accordance with existing governing policies.
